These Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) are free to use as long as you are a student or an employee of Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

All Ohio State students are now eligible for free Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus through Microsoft’s Student Advantage program. Each student can install Office on five PCs or Macs, five tablets (Windows, iPad® and Android™) and five phones.

Students are able to access Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other programs, depending on platform. Users will also receive 1 TB of OneDrive for Business storage.

As part of this platform you have access to a tool called Sway. When you log in to the web version you will see a “box” in the upper left-hand corner that will contain all of your apps. Select that box.

Sway should appear. (If it does not, select “All Apps” and you can find it there.)

It is easiest to access Sway using sway.office.com and then using your OSU credentials to sign into Microsoft Account.

There are several resources available that will help you use Sway, but I recommend Lynda.com .

  • Lynda.com: You can have unlimited access at home with a free Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) card. On-demand access to Lynda.com is now available through the CML. Apply onlinefor a CML card to access tutorials anytime, anywhere. Once you have signed up for a card you can access tutorials with your account number and pin on the CML Lynda page. Tutorials can be viewed from any computer with an internet connection or from a mobile device through the Lynda.com app. Just search for “Sway.

Software Request Instructions

Software is distributed via several channels (see the individual software listings below for specific information on each), but in most cases you will need to place an order through the IT Service Deskto obtain the software.

To order available software provided by the OCIO, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the IT Service Desk and select the Sign in to your account button, then select Log In.

  2. Select Order Services (marked with a shopping cart icon).

  3. Select Software Services from the list of categories.

  4. Select the Site Licensed Software Request option.

  5. Complete the Site Licensed Software Request Form, including choosing an item from the available software options. In some cases, you may be required to agree to terms and conditions for the selected product.

    If you are ordering more than one license, change Quantity in the box at the upper right.

  6. Click Check Out.

  7. Review your shopping cart and, if correct, click Submit Order at the lower right.

  8. Your order confirmation page lists your selections and their costs, as well as provides a Request Number (i.e., REQ12345) for tracking purposes.
    • If there is no price is listed for your selections, you will be provided with a link for download or, in some cases, have activation codes emailed to you.
    • If you have selected software that shows a price, you must submit an eRequest that includes the REQ number on this page to complete your transaction. URGENT: Referring to your REQ in your eRequest is the only way to ensure that your payment is linked to your software order so that delivery can be completed.

Note: Access to download software from the IT Service Desk is restricted to current Ohio State faculty, staff and students. The right to distribution of site-licensed software is limited to the OCIO. Individuals are strictly prohibited from loaning such software or making a copy for anyone else.

Registered Site License Software Coordinators can request certain additional software products for departmental distribution. An SLS Coordinator is authorized through their department chair or unit director to partner with OCIO to distribute site licensed software to end users within their department or unit. They must be a regular faculty or staff employee.

To request to become a coordinator, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the IT Service Desk and select the Sign in to your account button, then select Log In.

  2. Select Order Services (marked with a shopping cart icon).

  3. Select Software Services from the list of categories.

  4. Select the Site Licensed Software - Coordinator Request option.

  5. Complete the Site Licensed Software - Coordinator Request form.

  6. Click Check Out.

  7. Review your shopping cart and, if correct, click Submit Order at the lower right.
